Acadia uses the standard recreation.gov rolling 6-month window. Summer is short and precious in Maine — Blackwoods fills instantly for July and August dates.

How to Actually Get an Acadia Campsite

Acadia is the Northeast's only national park. Everyone in New England wants a summer spot.

Check June and September

Early June before school ends, or late September after Labor Day — both offer the Acadia experience without the crowds. Cancellations spike here first.

Blackwoods fills first

With 281 sites, Blackwoods is the largest and closest to the action. If you can't get it, try Seawall (not on CampSnag yet) or consider the island's many private campgrounds.

Cadillac Mountain sunrise

The first sunrise in the US happens here. But you need a timed entry reservation for the summit road (separate from camping). Book both.

Midnight PT is 3am ET
