FAQ

Still wondering? Everything you need to know is right here.

How fast are the alerts?
On high-demand parks (Yosemite, Zion, Joshua Tree, Grand Canyon) we scan every 15–30 seconds. On standard parks, every 60–90 seconds. Unlimited tier subscribers get priority scan speed on all parks. In peak season, popular sites can vanish in under 2 minutes — every second matters.
What parks do you cover?
We currently monitor 11 major national parks including Joshua Tree, Yosemite, Zion, Grand Canyon, Glacier, Rocky Mountain, Acadia, and Great Smoky Mountains. We're expanding the list — more parks are coming soon.
What happens when I get an alert?
You get an SMS with a direct deep-link to the campsite on recreation.gov. One tap opens the booking page. Log in and complete the reservation — the whole thing takes about 30 seconds.
Can I set multiple alerts?
On the Starter plan, you can have up to 3 active alerts at a time. Perfect if you're flexible on parks or dates. On the Unlimited plan, there's no cap — monitor as many parks and date ranges as you want.
How is this different from Campflare?
Campflare is a free service and checks frequently for popular parks. The real difference: CampSnag sends a one-tap deep link directly to the specific campsite on recreation.gov — Campflare notifies you but makes you navigate there yourself. In peak season, 30 seconds of fumbling costs you the site. We also invest in reliability as a paid service — Campflare is a volunteer side project with no uptime guarantee.
Do you auto-book for me?
No — we alert you instantly so you can book it yourself. recreation.gov requires you to log in and complete the booking. We get you there in one tap; the final click is yours.
How does the one-tap Quick-Book link work?
When we detect an opening, we build a direct URL to that specific campsite on recreation.gov with your dates pre-selected. You tap the link in your SMS, log in to recreation.gov (you should stay logged in on your phone), and hit Reserve. The whole thing typically takes under 30 seconds — vs. 60–90 seconds navigating there yourself. In a competitive park, that difference matters.
Will I get flooded with texts?
No. We only alert you when a site matches your exact criteria — right park, right dates, right group size. If nothing opens, you hear nothing. We built smart deduplication so you won't get multiple texts for the same cancellation. One alert = one real, bookable opportunity.
When is the best time to set up an alert?
The moment you know you want to go. Cancellations happen year-round but spike on Sunday nights and 48–72 hours before a reservation date (when people's plans change). The earlier you set an alert, the more cancellation windows you catch. Most members snag a site within 2 weeks of setting their alert.
